News and Blogs
A nice quote from Kevin Anderson on the difference between news stories and blogs :
"News stories should answer questions and tie up loose ends. Blogs should pose questions and leave some ends dangling to encourage debate."
via Richard Sambrook.
(on a side note, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy seeing the Director of Global News at the BBC blogging panel discussions)
Assalaamu alaikum. I was reading Ray Hartleys blog & through clicking on links to other blogs, made my way to yours. Interesting blog. Btw, it's Bibi-Aisha Wadvalla from campus, 2000 eager first year volunteer for MSA, then somehow getting on to SRC. (& I started wearing scarf again a year & half after I took it off:-p)
It seems that only dear ol' Bullard is against the masses having the right to be read. Although with the amount of drivel that enters the blogosphere, it's easy for one to be cynical.
I think it's our duty to constantly question what we see in the news and media, and search for the story behind the story. If we do this, we aren't reduced to being just mindless numb-absorbent consumers.
Instead of just regurgitating other people's thoughts, we learn to think for ourselves, and challenge our intellectual thought skills. And being exposed to a vast number of views never hurts. Viva blogging!
