Watching Qatar Rise

I took this picture at Qatar's man-made island, The Pearl. It's a massive multi-billion dollar project that involved dredging sand from the ocean to create this artificial Venice. I couldn't help but wonder if this couple was pondering what all this rapid development would mean for their country, their future and their children.

Lovely photo Mohamed, great composition. I look forward to going down to see The Pearl myself.

I agree that it must be very strange for the Qataris who have seen their country change so much in just their lifetime. I imagine there's a mixture of excitement and apprehension.
